Application Process
Getting Started
First you need to get registered on this web site, by clicking on the Register link.
The registration process will require a valid e-mail address, to confirm a communication channel to you.
When you completed the registration, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to you to complete the process.
At your first log in you will prompted to complete your profile that involves capturing the details of the business entity that you work for as well as any professional registrations that you may posses.
Please be aware that your business entity requires at least one professional engineer associated with it for the application process to proceed.
All other functions require you to be logged into the system.
Add an application
Once you have registered you can fill in an application for a Wayleave by using the Applications option in the menu that is presented after you logged in. This option will open a screen that will list all of the applications that you have submitted, or are in the process of submitting. You can return to this page at any time, to see what the progress is, or to add or edit information on the application.
Required Documents
The system will attempt to guide you through the documentation requirements for each phase of the application process. The documentation requirements become more onerous as the phases progress towards the final phase. Please submit as detailed as possible information, as this will assist the application reviewers to process your application faster.

Process of approval
The following is a brief run down of Rand Water's process for approvals of wayleaves:
Applications will be reviewed and digitally stamped. A notification will be sent on the status of the wayleave within 7 working days.
An annotation of the application will be done by Rand Water showing how Rand Water services and infrastructure is affected.
A file will be opened for application records
A FOR INFORMATION ONLY letter (FIO) will be sent out to the applicant to do investigations and cross cut investigations.
The applicant to schedule a site meeting with the district superintended (Rand Water Personnel) to identify the affected area's.'
Any comments made on site must be filled in on the last page of the FIO letter and signed by both Applicant and District Superintended and returned to Rand Water.
The applicant to submit a design report and required documents as per ANNEXURE A checklist (The annexure is issued with the FIO letter from Rand Water).
The complete submission will be reviewed and if accepted a wayleave approval will be granted.
Applications may take up to 3 months to complete
Application Phases
Your application will go through up to 3 phases.
Review - The phase during which the application has been created and the initial review of the application is conducted.
Processing - The phase during which the relevant processing and reviewing occurs with the application as required. Site verification will also occur during this phase. The approval or rejection of the wayleave will conclude this phase.
Post-approval - The phase during which the monitoring of the construction occurs after which the as-built documents are submitted, and the wayleave is finalised.
